Student safety and data privacy
Schools answer for what students can reach online and for every record kept about them. We configure filtering and monitoring that meet federal and Florida requirements, review the apps that touch student data, and protect school systems from the ransomware groups that increasingly target them.
What’s included
- Content filtering
- Filtering on and off campus that meets the Children's Internet Protection Act, with policies by grade and overrides teachers can actually use.
- Social media and app controls
- Network and device policies aligned with Florida's student online safety requirements for school networks.
- Safety alerts
- Monitoring of school accounts for signs of self-harm, threats and bullying, routed to the counselors and administrators you choose.
- Student data privacy
- Reviews of apps and vendors against FERPA, COPPA and Florida's student records law, with data privacy agreements tracked in one place.
- School cybersecurity
- Multi-factor authentication for staff, EDR on staff devices, immutable backups of student information and files, and phishing training for faculty.
- Policies
- Help drafting the internet safety policy CIPA requires, acceptable use agreements and an incident response plan.
A good fit if
- Students get around your filter on school devices at home.
- Teachers sign up for free apps with student data and nobody reviews them.
- You receive E‑Rate funding and need to document CIPA compliance.
Questions we hear
What does CIPA require?
Schools that receive E‑Rate discounts for internet access or internal connections need an internet safety policy, a technology protection measure that blocks obscene and harmful content, monitoring of minors' online activity, and instruction on appropriate online behavior. We handle the technical parts and help with the rest.
Does filtering work off campus?
Yes. School-managed devices carry their filtering policy with them, at home and on any network.
Who sees safety alerts?
Only the people you designate, usually counselors and administrators, with an escalation path for alerts that arrive after hours. We configure the system; we don't review student content.
